It’s important to remember that social media is not about the pitch. It’s not about claims, testimonials, or income statements. Social media is EXACTLY what its name states; it is a social outreach tool that allows for the beginning of relationship building. As we all know, the relationships we cultivate and nurture are the lifeblood of our business.
Often, when a new business builder is thinking of using social media to launch or promote their business, they go into “overkill”, or as I sometimes refer to it, “firehose” mode. They feel like every post, every picture, every comment needs to be about their new venture and how others can join them on an incredible journey of entrepreneurship. This is NOT interesting or engaging, and often it is just a complete turn-off. Social media is meant to create interest, spark excitement and stir up the curiosity to learn more.
So what are a few tips to make your social media appealing and exciting? Always think about what YOU “like”, and keep it light and fun. Examples include:
A cute video of your pet doing something funny. The comments could be, “My best friend is forever young – ask me how.” When someone likes or comments, message them and offer to share what you are doing to keep your pet young and active.
A picture of yourself at a 5k walk with the caption, “I couldn’t do this last year, but this year it’s a whole new way of life – ask me how!” Message those who like or comment, and ask to share Liquid BioCell® Life, Pure, or Sport with them.
Post a picture of a customer with amazing skin and the caption, “My customer looks this amazing without plastic surgery – ask me how!”
Post a picture of yourself at your next team meeting or training with the caption, “New friends, a new opportunity, a whole new way of life. Never been happier!”
Create intrigue and interest. Be funny, be kind, be yourself and use social media to take your business beyond your warm market.
